ST. PAUL'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION'S MONTHLY DONOR PROGRAM (School project)
What was the Problem: This was an assigned project for the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation. Located in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, they wanted to bring more awareness to their monthly donor program. They were not only targeting new prospective donors but also targeting one-time donors to donate monthly. At the time, there were no major focus and marketing efforts to highlight the program.
What was my Solution: The direction I took was to focus on each donor individually to highlight them as a source of ‘light’ and ‘hope’ and to show how they have impacted and made a difference to the lives of patients, staff, and members of the SPHF. When donating to any organization or cause, it requires an effort from not just one but many individuals to achieve the goal amount. The proposed name I had suggested for the program was “Shining Hearts”.
This directly refers to each donor contributing a little at a time that adds up to the overall amount to allow SPHF to provide the best care possible. The name reflects the warming and care that the hospital offers. The abstract symmetrical heart itself represents the encompassment of how it takes more than one piece to complete the whole heart. The colours of the heart symbolize preciousness, compassion, and heartwarming. In combination with the pieces within the hearts and the colours, I wanted the heart to come off as important as a piece of jewelry with sentimental value.
What did I Learn: Through this project, I had the opportunity to have a discovery session with the client to get to know more about the foundation and what they were looking for out of this project. At the end of the project, I had the opportunity to be selected as one of the individuals in my cohort to present my branding to the client. It was an amazing experience as a student to present my work to an actual client.
